About

Gila Hot Springs Campground was started in 1992 by Allen and Carla Campbell.  The idea was to create a place for the general public to have access to the natural hot springs and to also provide camping facilities.  Since its inception, the campground has taken on a personality of its own, thanks in part to our return customers.  It has become a favorite for hot springs enthusiast because of the rustic, natural settings of the pools.
Allen and his three siblings were raised at the Gila Hot Springs.  Their parents, Doc and Ida, raised their four children in this remote area. Highway 15 was built in 1964, which opened access to the Gila Cliff Dwellings and the Gila Wilderness.
When you visit the campground, you will see Allen and Carla several times a day, as they interact with guests and manage the area.  They will be happy to answer all your questions about the Gila Wilderness and the history of the area.
